As of August 3, 2026, Reddit has 39 open AI and machine learning roles. That puts it ahead of Cohere (16), Perplexity (16), Figure AI (17), and Cresta (23) — all companies that exist specifically to build AI products. Reddit’s primary product is a message board.

This isn’t a Reddit-specific quirk. HireIndex’s full index skews heavily toward experience: of 1,623 total AI/ML roles, only 34 are junior. But even by those standards, Reddit’s zero-junior ratio across 39 roles is striking. Entry-level candidates looking at Reddit’s board will find nothing.
The likely reason: Reddit is not building its ML function from scratch. It already has ML infrastructure, ranking systems, and ads models that have been running for years. The company is scaling existing systems with experienced engineers, not staffing a greenfield team that could absorb new graduates.
